Aurora Indica Grow Journal: Week 2

Legal note: Growing cannabis is only for adults 21 and over where state law allows it. State home-grow rules differ, so check yours first.

Under federal law, marijuana is still a Schedule I controlled substance unless it is in an FDA-approved drug or covered by a state medical marijuana license; a federal order moved those two categories to Schedule III in April 2026. A DEA hearing on rescheduling the rest of marijuana was set for mid-2026.

Day 7

By the first day of week 2, the Aurora Indica seeds were reaching out and begging for more light. I added a standard store-bought 25w LED bulb for some extra light, which seems to have solved the problem.

The seedlings had been stretching from too little light, and the new growth came in with shorter gaps between the nodes. The leaves are coming in quickly with no signs of deficiencies. For the rest of the week, I'll keep misting them to hold the humidity up in the domes.

Day 9

Plot Twist: I showed a friend some of the Aurora Indica seeds I planted. I thought these were autoflowering seeds, but he told me he thought they were photoperiod seeds. I checked my receipt, and sure enough, all the seeds were photoperiods, not autoflowers.

I really wanted to grow autoflowers, but photoperiods have an upside: I control how long they stay in veg, so they have time to recover from training stress.

I was planning minimal training anyway, so the grow plan only needs small changes.

The new plan: Autoflowers flower on their own regardless of day length, but photoperiod plants need a light flip. I'll switch them to a 12-hour light, 12-hour dark schedule when it's time to flower.

Since week 1, one of the four Aurora Indicas has been struggling, so I pulled it. I started germinating an Alaskan Purple photoperiod seed today to take its place.

Once it shows a taproot, it goes into the old seedling's cup.

Day 14

The Alaskan Purple seed is almost ready to join the Aurora Indicas, which we've named Things 1, 2, and 3. The Alaskan Purp will henceforth be known as “Groot.”
