ViparSpectra LED Grow Lights Review (Brand Overview)
Contents
If you’re growing indoors in a grow room or grow tent, you need a good light to make it work. ViparSpectra is one of the better-known budget LED grow light brands.
LEDs are popular for good reason. UC Agriculture and Natural Resources notes they produce little heat, are energy efficient and last a long time. The trade-off is a higher upfront cost.
Here is our overview of the ViparSpectra brand and its older Reflector series.
All About ViparSpectra
ViparSpectra sells LED grow lights directly to growers through its own online store and on Amazon. Selling direct helps it keep prices below many premium brands.
The brand aims to sit between top-tier lights and budget prices. Its lights focus on the features most home growers need.
The Reflector Series Today
The Reflector series (300W, 450W, 600W, 900W and 1200W models) was a popular ViparSpectra line. It is no longer listed on ViparSpectra's site.
The current lineup centers on the Pro (P), XS and XS Pro series. If you find a Reflector light for sale, it's likely older or used stock.
We could not verify the Reflector series' original specs, such as LED chip brands, PAR readings, dimensions or lifespan, on a ViparSpectra page. So we no longer list them here.
Features
Reflector models had separate veg and bloom switches. You could run one channel for vegetative growth and add the other for flowering, without swapping lights.
Plants use mostly red and blue light for photosynthesis, as University of Minnesota Extension explains. Full-spectrum LEDs cover both, so one light can carry a plant from seedling to harvest.
Many growers believe more red light during bloom boosts yield, but there's little hard evidence behind that. Light intensity and hanging height matter more.
The lights work with standard hangers and ratchet kits, so you can raise them as plants grow. Built-in fans and heat sinks keep them cool.

Warranty
ViparSpectra offers a warranty and a refund policy on its lights. Terms can change, so check the current warranty on ViparSpectra's site before you buy.
LED grow lights are not waterproof. Keep them away from water and run them on a properly rated outlet.
Choosing a ViparSpectra Light
Match the light to your tent size. Each current model lists its recommended coverage on its product page.
Several smaller lights can give more even coverage than one large light in a wide space. One right-sized light is simpler in a small tent.
Final Thoughts
ViparSpectra is well known among home growers for affordable LEDs. Some growers avoid the brand because the lights are made in China.
Buy from a seller that honors the manufacturer's warranty, and check that the light suits your space.
Growing cannabis at home is legal only in some places. Marijuana remains a Schedule I drug under US federal law outside a 2026 rescheduling rule for FDA-approved and state-licensed medical products, and state laws differ, so check your local rules first.
