Dimming lets you start seedlings and clones under gentler light and turn it up as plants grow. The panels use aluminum heat sinks to shed heat.

Spectrum

GalaxyHydro panels were sold as full spectrum, mixing red, blue and white light with some infrared and ultraviolet diodes.

Red and blue light make up most of the light plants use for photosynthesis, according to the University of Minnesota Extension. Blue suits seedlings and leafy growth, while red helps with flowering.

Other Features

Some models have separate veg and bloom switches, so you can run the spectrum suited to each stage.

Older marketing claimed the UV diodes "sterilize" the grow room. We found no evidence that a grow light's small UV output keeps a room free of mold or bacteria, so rely on airflow and humidity control instead.

Cooling fans help keep the unit cool. Keep the fans and vents free of dust so they keep working.

Galaxyhydro 300W LED Grow Lights Review

Galaxyhydro's 300W LED Grow Light is an entry-level panel. It is simple to set up, which makes it an option for a first small grow.

Despite the "300W" name, panels like this draw far less power from the wall. Watts measure energy use, not light output, so compare lights by their PPF or PPFD figures as well.

It's one of the most budget-friendly LED grow lights we've covered. It is a low-cost alternative to small HPS or HID setups.
