Are you looking for the best cannabis seed bank? If yes, then I Love Growing Marijuana (ILGM) is one option that should be on the top of the list. I’ve been an avid fan for years, and I will share in this ILGM Seed review why.
It has many plus points, but also a few drawbacks, most notably its prices and US-only shipping.
Read on as I share my experience in buying marijuana seeds from ILGM.
My Quick ILGM Review
ILGM is one of my favorite seed banks, even though it ships only within the United States.
The seeds are sorted into easy categories, including by the climate they suit.
ILGM offers a germination guarantee: if seeds fail to sprout, it replaces them, with conditions. Orders also ship in discreet packaging.
The main drawback is price. If you're growing on a budget, consider the alternatives below.
ILGM – From Humble Beginnings to Global Reach
Like other companies selling cannabis seeds, ILGM started small.
According to ILGM's About page, founder Robert Bergman started "I Love Growing Marijuana" with a few friends in 2012.
At first it was just a blog about growing cannabis, not a store. It later grew into a seed shop, and the company says it opened an office in Amsterdam as its team expanded.
Seed Selection & Quality
In my experience with ILoveGrowingMarijuana, one thing that stands out is its selection. It's one of the most diverse I've seen.
The catalog covers indicas, sativas, hybrids and autoflowering strains, so growers of all levels can find options.
What’s even better is that it’s effortless to find the marijuana seeds that you want. They are grouped in different categories.
Cannabis Cup Winners
ILGM has a Cannabis Cup Winners category for award-winning strains. Check each strain's page for the award it lists, since the lineup changes.
Bergman’s Favorite Seeds
Undecided? ILGM has a Robert Bergman's Favorites category, which makes it easier to narrow down your choices. The picks change over time.
Seeds by Climate and Location
ILGM also groups seeds by the climate they suit, with categories such as sunny, cool, continental, temperate and Mediterranean.
Seed Mixes are Also Available
Rather than buying I Love Growing Marijuana Seeds individually, you have the option to buy in pre-mix packs. ILGM does the selection so you don’t need to manually choose from a long list of strains available on their platform.
Mix packs on the site include options such as the Platinum, Premium, Kush, Sativa and Amsterdam mixes. The lineup changes, so check the current list.
Germination Guaranteed Or You’ll Get a Replacement
ILGM offers a germination guarantee. If your seeds fail to germinate, it ships free replacements, matching the strain when possible.
The terms: you need proof of purchase, must follow ILGM's recommended germination methods and must claim within 12 months of purchase. ILGM offers one reship per order.
Pricing
ILGM's prices tend to be higher than some other seed banks. Part of what you pay for is the germination guarantee and free US shipping.
When we compared a five-seed pack of White Widow feminized seeds, ILGM cost more than both MSNL and Herbies. Prices change often, so compare current listings before you buy.
Available Discounts & Promotions at ILGM
ILGM's prices are high, but it runs regular promotions, some of them seasonal.
A frequent promo is Buy 10, Get 10 Free on selected best-selling seeds. Check the site for the current terms.
For more information, check out ILGM Discount Codes. It's where ILGM lists its current official codes and deals.
VIP Program
ILGM also has a free loyalty program. You earn points on purchases and can redeem them for discounts and gifts.
The ILGM seed bank loyalty program has annual tiers based on how much you spend each year, with better rewards at higher tiers.
You earn 1 point per dollar spent and 50 points for joining. You can also earn points for reviews, social follows and your birthday.
Customer Service
ILGM offers several ways to get help.
You can use the contact form or email, and ILGM says it replies within 24 hours.
ILGM now also lists live chat on weekdays (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 Eastern) and a phone number for questions on its support page.
Website Experience
Buying from ILGM is straightforward, even for first-time buyers.
A Treasure Trove of Resources
One of the best things about ILGM is its free growing guides, including germination guides for beginners.
If you sign up for ILGM's newsletter, you get its free digital Cannabis Grow Bible by Robert Bergman, which covers growing fundamentals.
Create a Wishlist
I appreciate the wishlist feature for saving strains you want to buy later.
Shipment Tracker
ILGM now includes free tracking on every order, and you can follow your shipment through the site's Track Your Order page.
Seed Finder
Photo from ILGM
Growing marijuana seeds is easier if you can find the right strains for your needs and preferences. It’s also worth mentioning in this ILGM Seeds review that its website features a short online quiz on its Seed Finderpage, which can help determine which seeds are best for you.
Payment Methods
ILGM accepts several payment methods: major credit cards; bank payments by Zelle, ACH, wire transfer, check or money order; cash by mail; and Bitcoin.
Card payments can fail for several reasons, such as using a virtual private network, a wrong billing address or insufficient funds.
If you pay by cash or check, your order ships only after ILGM receives the payment, so it takes longer.
ILGM accepts Bitcoin. Check checkout for any current crypto discount.
Shipping
In my experience, ILGM's shipping has been reliable.
Free U.S. Shipping
ILGM ships only within the United States, from a US warehouse. It offers free shipping, which helps offset its higher seed prices.
ILGM no longer ships outside the US. Its delivery guarantee covers only US addresses, and using a forwarding service is at your own risk.
Orders go by USPS with free tracking.
Fast US Shipping
ILGM says orders ship in 1 to 3 business days and typically arrive within 3 to 5 business days.
All orders ship from ILGM's US warehouse.
Discreet Shipping
ILGM ships in discreet packaging that doesn't advertise what's inside.
Guaranteed Delivery
ILGM offers a delivery guarantee for US addresses. If your order doesn't arrive, contact ILGM's support team promptly; check the current terms on its site for deadlines and exclusions, such as a wrong address.
Return Policy
We could not confirm ILGM's current return terms on its site.
If you need to return seeds, contact ILGM's support team first and ask about the current policy before sending anything back.
Alternatives
ILGM isn't perfect, and there are some notable alternatives:
- Herbies Seeds: This is for budget-conscious buyers looking for cheaper seeds. It also ships internationally, unlike ILGM. Read my Herbies review here.
- MSNL Seed Bank: Like ILGM, MSNL has a rewards program. It may suit you better if you're outside the US, since it ships internationally. Read my MSNL review here.
Overall
ILGM is one of the better seed banks for US growers. It has a diverse selection, an easy website, free tracked US shipping and a germination guarantee.
The main shortcomings are steep prices and no shipping outside the US.
Check your state's law before buying or growing. According to the Congressional Research Service, starting December 11, 2026, cannabis seeds that exceed 0.3% total THC are excluded from the federal hemp definition. Growing cannabis is legal only for adults where state law allows it, and it remains federally illegal.
