Black Cherry Punch Strain Review (North 40 Cannabis)
I finally got my hands on some Black Cherry Punch made by North 40 Cannabis that the Twitterverse has been raving about. This indica-dominant cultivar is sold under the Farmstead brand. I bought it at Shelter Market as a medical product, and I can now understand what all the hype was about.

Let's start with the glass container. Did I already say how much I love those? Inside were six elongated, hand-trimmed buds, light green with purple calyxes and covered in trichomes, some milky and some amber.
They looked very nice. However, the relative humidity in the container was 37%, which is a little low for me. You could feel some stickiness, but the flower was too dry. I rehydrated it with a Boveda pack for 24 hours, and the terps were still very lively; see below!

I've tried the Black Cherry cultivar in the past; it smelled sweet but not really like cherries. This Black Cherry Punch actually smells like crushed cherries, which impressed me. The scent is strong, with heavy sweet cherry accented by spice and woody pine.
You kind of just want to keep your nose in the container!

The terpene profile gives it complex flavors, so taste-wise this Black Cherry Punch goes all over the place, in a fun way. On the inhale, I got sweet cherry, hops, pine and a spicy kick.
Some vanilla notes lingered on the exhale, which felt like the CHERRY on top; sorry, I had to do it at least once.

Given the potency, I expected this to turn me into a non-functional zombie. It was more than just a couch-glue situation.
The high came on fast; within 10 minutes of lighting the joint, my whole body decompressed, with tingles all over. It's not just a body high, either. There's a strong cerebral effect that makes your thoughts feel slowed down. It's a roller coaster of a high!

This was an excellent first experience with a North 40 Cannabis product. My expectations were high (although I try not to have any before trying) because of the rave reviews I'd read online.
They were met and exceeded, from the terpiness to the pungent smell and flavor to the heavy-duty effects. I'd recommend it to experienced consumers.
Overall, I liked it more than Lemon Garlic OG and Bubba Strain. Beginners beware, though: this is very potent, so start with a small amount and don't drive or plan anything important afterward. High-THC cannabis can also cause anxiety or panic in less experienced users.
