I finally got my hands on the OG Brulee strain, the custard boy of highs. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and I love the sweet custard dessert it’s named after.

For newer adult consumers: slow down with this one. It’s a superbly flavored strain, but it’s strong enough to turn a pleasant session into an uncomfortable one if you overdo it.

OG Brulee is a beauty to behold. So was the packaging of the vape cartridge I bought before the buds, with an animated bowl of crème brûlée topped with a strawberry and grape.

The buds are bright lime green with golden-yellow pistils and dark purple undertones. The resin coverage made me think about pressing some hash.

Unlike other strains, the buds are softer. You can break them up by hand without a grinder.

Right out of the bag, I picked up a sweet candied-vanilla scent with earthy hints. It reminded me of cookie-type strains.

The name fits: the sweet, nutty smell recalls vanilla custard and caramelized sugar. The exhale brought out earthy wood, nut, pine and herbal notes.

I knew I was in for a treat with this strain. Every drag hit smoothly and left a delicious taste.

Careful, though: OG Brulee tastes good enough to tempt you into another hit. Wait for the effects to kick in before going back.

I love the body high of OG Brulee: slow, smooth and heavy. It made me tired and sleepy, so for me it's a nighttime strain for winding down after a long day.

It also gave me the munchies and progressed into couch lock and a nap. These are my effects; they differ from person to person.

OG Brulee is not a treatment for anxiety, depression, insomnia or any other condition. The FDA has not approved the cannabis plant for any medical use, according to NCCIH.

NIDA's cannabis overview notes that anxiety, panic and hallucinations are more likely with strong products or large amounts. Start low if you're new.

OG Brulee is a flavorful indica-dominant strain with heavy body effects that suit the end of the day. The smooth smoke can hide how strong it is.

So go slow, especially if you’re new. For me, the euphoria progressed into sedation and couch lock.
