Ice Cream Cake Strain Review (7Acres)

Contents
Ice Cream Cake is a popular strain like the ones I’ve seen recommended countless times to order online, especially on Reddit threads talking about strong indica-dominant flower.
Every time it appeared, people described it as “creamy,” “heavy,” and “the perfect evening knockout.” I had somehow never tried the 7Acres version before, so when I finally spotted a fresh 3.5-gram jar at a local dispensary, I grabbed it without hesitation.
One note before my experience: 7Acres grows and packages this strain for the Canadian market, but it is widely credited to another breeder. We could not confirm its breeder or parent strains on an official breeder page, so this review covers only the 7Acres product.
I tried this strain after a long and chaotic week. I wanted something comfortable, creamy, and relaxing without being too mentally foggy. I’ve had good experiences with Wedding Cake strains in the past, so I went into this one expecting the same doughy sweetness and full-body relaxation.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ice Cream Cake balanced strong, soothing effects with smooth flavor.

Appearance: 4/5
The buds looked fantastic as soon as I opened the jar. They had that “frosted dessert” look that fits the name perfectly. Thick crystals covered every surface, and the trichomes sparkled in the light whenever I rotated the buds between my fingers.
The density of the nugs was impressive. They felt slightly spongy but firm, and they kept their shape without crumbling.
The base color was forest green, with faint purple streaks under the trichomes and thin orange pistils. It had great bag appeal for a moderate price.
Moisture was on point as well. The buds pulled apart in clean, sticky layers.
Aroma: 4.5/5
I've always liked strains that smell like vanilla, pastry or sweet cream. The aroma hit me as soon as I cracked the jar: rich, sugary and creamy, with a doughy note like fresh cake batter.
The vanilla felt smooth rather than artificial. Earthy tones under the sweetness kept it from being a sugar bomb.
When I broke the bud apart, the smell got stronger, but it never felt sharp or overpowering.
Flavor: 4/5
The flavor lined up almost perfectly with the aroma. The inhale had a clear vanilla note, and the exhale had a creamy finish with a slight peppery twist.
I also tasted the doughy sweetness that I love in Cake and Gelato hybrids, a cookie note that also shows up in the Watermelon Gushers. It gave the strain a smooth, dessert-like character that lingered on my tongue for a few seconds after each hit.
The smoke was smooth, with no harsh bite. I tried it in a bong, a pipe and a small joint, and the joint brought out the creamy notes a bit more.
Effects: 4.5/5
The effects hit me faster than I expected. Within a couple of minutes, I felt warmth spread into my shoulders and neck.
A light, floaty head high settled in, but it wasn't disorienting. I stayed aware but calm.
After about ten minutes, the body high took over. My limbs felt heavy, and I sank into the couch for the evening.
This is a nighttime strain for me. I don't recommend it before work, driving or anything that needs focus.
People often credit terpenes for a strain's feel, but the evidence is limited, and effects vary from person to person. Curious how different strains of cannabis can produce different effects? Check out this post from Healthline.

Overall, the high was long-lasting and consistent. The couch-lock was real, but the mental calm made it enjoyable.
Overall: 4.5/5
Ice Cream Cake by 7Acres lived up to its reputation. It looked great, smelled great and delivered a deeply relaxing evening.
I recommend it for experienced users who enjoy heavy indica-style effects. NIDA notes that strong products and little experience make anxiety or panic more likely, so beginners should start small.
For the price, this was excellent quality, and I would buy it again.
This review covers a legal Canadian product bought in Ontario, where the minimum age is 19. Ages and rules differ by province. In the US, adult-use cannabis remains federally illegal, and state laws differ.

● GMO Cookies Strain: If you prefer something funkier, GMO Cookies has a savory profile and heavy body effects, without the vanilla sweetness.
● Wedding Cake: Wedding Cake tastes slightly less sweet and more earthy, with a similar relaxed feel.
