The packaging is simple but edgy, enough to get me excited to try what's inside. It comes in a nitrogen-flushed pouch with an airtight seal, which helps preserve freshness if you don't finish it right away.

You have two options when you buy Billy's Pheno by Carmel. I opted for the whole bud.

If you'd like more convenience, there are also pre-rolls in a glass tube. No grinding or rolling needed.

There's nothing special about how it looks, but the trichomes are very visible. It reminded me of the Jean-Guy Strain, which also has remarkable trichome coverage.

Aroma: 4.5/5

Right out of the package, I noticed the bud was a bit dry. After smelling it, though, I was relieved.

It has a woody aroma with a hint of peach, adding just enough fruitiness to balance the earthy base.

As I ground the bud, the aroma became more pronounced. Fresh and terpy is what you want, and that's what this delivered.

In terms of flavor, Billy's Pheno does not disappoint. At its price, I had high expectations, and it met them. From the first hit, the flavors were distinct.

I used a dry herb vaporizer for this strain. At lower temperatures, it tasted like peach, much like it smelled. There was a bit of gas at the end, but nothing bothersome. At higher temperatures, lemon and pepper came forward.

The mix of sweet and earthy flavors made it enjoyable. It was also smooth, similar to my experience with the Ultra Sour Strain.

The effects of Billy's Pheno start out heady, like a Sativa. It's a heavy hitter, so I don't recommend it if you want something easygoing. In my opinion it's not a daily smoke, both because of the price and the strength.

A few hits in, I already felt it. My body felt heavy, especially behind the eyes. Even so, I felt energetic, alert and focused.

For me, it worked well in social settings.

Effects vary from person to person, and very potent cannabis can cause anxiety, especially if you're new or take too much. Start low and go slow.

While it isn't my favorite of everything I recently tried, I found Billy's Pheno outstanding. From the aroma to the flavor, it has something distinct to offer.

If you want something to smoke more often, try something milder, such as the Limelight Strain.
