The first time I tried the 9 lb Hammer Strain, it felt like I was having a whiff of earth. The traces of earthiness were so obvious. If you love spicy and fruity strains, the 9 lb Hammer is a good choice to relax after a long day.

The 9lb Hammer Strain is an Indica-dominant hybrid from Jinxproof Genetics. It hits fast and with a heavy blow, like its name.

However, the 9 Pound Hammer strain has its share of fun effects like euphoria, but it's best left to experienced consumers. It can “knock out” even tokers with high tolerance.

Below is a more detailed breakdown of the 9lb Hammer Strain.

  • Type: Indica-Dominant
  • Potency: Moderate to high THC, minimal CBD (varies by batch)
  • Terpene Profile: Myrcene(herbal), Pinene(pine), Caryophyllene(pepper)
  • Packaging Details: Packaged on 02/02/2023, tested/reviewed on 05/03/2023
  • Pricing Details: Purchased 3.5 grams at the SQDC in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, for $23.20

A note on numbers: THC and CBD percentages and terpene profiles vary by grower and batch, so treat the details here as one sample and check the label on the product you buy.

This product was bought legally in Canada, where adults can buy from retailers authorized by their province or territory. The minimum age is 19 in most provinces, 18 in Alberta and 21 in Quebec. In the US, marijuana is still a Schedule I drug under federal law outside narrow 2026 exceptions for FDA-approved and state-licensed medical products, and state laws differ.

Appearance: 4/5

The 9lb Hammer Strain buds are a bushy, mossy green with purple-like trichomes on the leaves. As per usual, with top-notch nugs, the buds are sticky and have a gorgeous purple hue. In terms of size, four large, piney nugs and a couple of medium ones were in the bag.

Overall, the 9lb Hammer Strain was visually appealing with its large, chunky, multicolored flowers.

Aroma: 4/5

A whiff of the 9lb Hammer strain’s flowers is of grape, lime, and some earthiness, which gives it a sweet and fruity scent. But don’t let the sweetness fool you. It's intense, similar to incense.

Flavor: 4/5

The 9lb Hammer Strain’s flavor is just as intense as the aroma. You can easily taste the combination of berry, citrus, grape, and lime out-the-bag and on the first drag. It’s like you’re having a fruit punch or a mixed fruit juice. The smoke is smooth and buttery and a delight to inhale.

Effects: 5/5

The 9 Pound Hammer strain has a hard-hitting buzz with predominantly chill effects. It's best taken at night, at home, because of its sedative, appetite-inducing, and sleepy aftereffects. Don't drive after using it. While the body high is predominant, it also hits the mind with mild feelings of happiness.

With the 9lb Hammer, I discovered less is more. Even in small doses, its famous “couch-lock” effect drains energy and will to carry out regular activities, leaving you in a dreamy, numb state.

Overall: 4.5/5

The 9 LB Hammer strain is an all-rounder. My body is calm and relaxed when I’m high on this strain, it’s almost as if I am in a trance. It made me sleepy, and I woke up feeling fine, unlike a few strains I've tried that left me groggy or with dry eyes.

The high is intense and relaxing. It isn't a treatment for pain, anxiety or insomnia, though.

Cannabis isn't FDA-approved to treat any condition, and NIDA notes that strong THC products make anxiety, panic and hallucinations more likely. Frequent use also raises the risk of cannabis use disorder. If you're managing a health condition, talk to a doctor. I am head over heels for this strain, which may become my go-to for deep relaxation.

Alternatives

The 9lb Hammer Strain is similar to the Vanilla Cream Pie Strain, Member OG, and Caramel Cream in terms of effect and flavor. They share euphoric, relaxed, and sleepy highs.

  • Vanilla Cream Pie Strain: Effects are euphoric and sleepy. Also offers a piney flavor.
  • Member OG: Indica strain with a sweet and sour citrusy lemon flavor and relaxing effects.
  • Caramel Cream: Strong herbal flavor and long-lasting euphoric effects.
